Local building projects win awards

It was a successful night at the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) SE Awards when three building projects nominated by our team won top awards.

We selected a small number of projects as standing out from the hundreds  submitted to us and completed last year. Following judging by an independent panel in April on the ‘excellence’ shown from a design and construction and technical building control point of view Finalists from the South East region were then invited to attend the Awards at The Grand Hotel.  Over 300 construction professionals from Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and Kent gathered to celebrate and the evening's winners now go forward to the LABC Grand Finals in London in November.

Oakhall Church in Chaldon won the coveted Best Public Service Building category. Constructed on the site of a derelict office block, the new church project was fully supported by Tandridge District Council planning department and our team ensured the church’s plans for its new home met the building regulations and the requirements for access, fire and safety as well as regularly monitoring work on site throughout the build.

The new church building includes a large multi-use auditorium, office space, classrooms, accommodation and nursery together with ample parking.

Contractors Westridge Construction and project managers Chawton Hill were commended for their high standards and proactive approach.

Holly Bush View, Oxted a stunning semi-rural housing project of three executive homes designed and built by Croudace Portland won the highly contended Best Small New Development category as well as the site manager John O’Connor being Highly Commended in the Construction Professional class for his role on the build.   The quality and standards of workmanship from start to finish made this project stand out for the judges.

We are delighted that these projects and the people involved in them have been recognised as being the best in their class.  These Awards not only pay testament to them and the building standards achieved within our districts but also show that as a place to live and work we are continually improving our environment working together as a team.
